This campsite, on Micalong Creek, takes its name from one of the convicts, Claude Barrois. Barrois was a shoemaker from London, possibly with French ancestry as suggested by the name. He was unpopular with his fellow convicts and they took to calling the perambulator ‘Claude’s wheelbarrow’. Afterwards, he sank into oblivion and died at the age of 42. He, and the campsite named after him, was also referred to as Bossawa.
