Norths Lookout, Tin Mines & Samuel Bollard

Aptly named, Norths lookout has incredible 180o views, which take in the western face of the Snowy Mountains, the Upper Murray valley, the Riverina and the town of Holbrook. You can also see Mount Narra Narra while walking this section. For a long day walk, go from Tin Mines to Samuel Bollard Campsite, otherwise choose either the eastern section: Tin Mines to Norths Lookout, or the south western section: Norths Lookout to Samuel Bollard Campsite.

Walking notes

Tin Mines Campsite to Norths Lookout is in Woomargama National Park and is all on the Tin Mines Trail (firetrail). Watch for vehicles.

Norths Lookout to Samuel Bollard is in Woomargama National Park and pine plantations. It is mostly on fire trail with a small section of single track at the Samuel Bollard Campsite end. Similarly watch for vehicles.

It is a great mountain bike ride from Lankeys Creek Campsite through to Samuel Bollard Campsite. Stick to the road (firetrail) not the single track when nearing Samuel Bollard Campsite.

 

How to access the track

Woomargama National Park
Eastern entrance /
Turn off Jingellic Road onto Galvins Rd. Turn onto Galvin's Road and follow until the boundary with the National Park, marked by NPWS signs.
Tunnel Road entrance / From Woomargama, take Berry Street, which becomes Tunnel Road. Follow for 11kms until the Hume and Hovell Track crosses Tunnel Road at Hanels Road.

Tin Mines campsite / Follow Galvins Road into Woomargama National Park and continue for 8 kms. Galvins Road becomes Tin Mines Road which goes right beside Tin Mines Campground.

Samuel Bollard Campground / Sits on Tin Mines Fire Trail Rd (Tin Mines Rd turns into Fire Trail road after Tin Mines Campground) access from Tin Mines Campground or from the south is accessed off Tunnel Road, meeting with Tin Mines Fire Trail Rd
