FCNSW Herbicide and Baiting Application

Forestry Corporation of NSW has advised that they will applying herbicide for the control of weeds on State Forest near the Hume & Hovell Track. The timing and duration of works is weather dependent and will be via ground-based or helicopter application. Operations will occur in the region between September 2024 and May 2025.

The following herbicides will be used:
Hexazinone (e.g. Hexmax, Velmac G)
Clopyralid (eg: Clomac, Lontrel)
Haloxyfop (e.g. Hallotop)
Oxyfluorfen (e.g. Cavalier)
Adjuvants (eg: Takedown Oil)

Some areas will also receive nutrition enhancement via spot application:
Mon-Ammonium Phosphate
Ulexite Granulex 10%

The ares undergoing the treatment include Buccleugh (Micalong), Bago, Mundaroo, Mannus State Forests. During operations, signage will be in place and all direction regarding entry must be followed.

Forestry Corporation of NSW has also advised that aerial application of the pesticide 1080 ‘Sodium Fluoroacetate’ will be underway from the 2nd September for the control of wild dogs.

In relation to the Hume & Hovell Track, this will be underway in Bondo, Micalong, Bago, Mundaroo and Woomargama State Forests. During operations, signage will be in place and all direction regarding entry must be followed. It is recommended that dogs are restrained on a lead at all times if entering these areas.

Please note: the Hume & Hovell Track passes through numerous land tenures which means access and management may be impacted by the governing body. This includes chemical usage, harvesting operations, road works and maintenance.
