Track Distance Marker Posts

The Hume and Hovell Track is adding a new feature to support walkers and enhance their track experience. Distance markers are being installed across the length of the track, positioned every 5km and indicating how far it is to the end of the track. These work in both directions, either to Cooma Cottage in Yass or to Hovell Tree in Albury.

The incorporation of distance markers is one of the actions identified in the Hume & Hovell Track Strategic Plan under the objective to enhance directional and wayfinding signage.

The markers also provide an added safety feature in the event that assistance is needed; walkers will be able to inform emergency services of the nearest distance marker number which will assist in finding walkers should there be any issues with location devices.

The markers will be installed over the coming weeks which will become more noticeable when you are venturing out for a walk.

This work is one of many initiatives that are being undertaken on the Hume & Hovell Track to create a safer track and enhanced user experience, to last for many years to come!
