Forestry Operations - Blowering Dam (Update)

**Update 31 March 2025 - FCNSW have advised that windrows are to be burnt within the pink hatched areas on the maps below. There is very little risk to walkers, however smoke may affect some sections of the track within this area. FCNSW will ensure signs are up notifying walkers of smoke hazards with a contact phone number should there be any concerns from the public.**

Forestry Corporation of NSW will be establishing pine plantation blocks in the Blowering Dam area of Bago State Forest adjacent to the Hume & Hovell Track during Autumn and Winter 2025.

The establishment operations involve site preparation with machinery (during summer/autumn), weed treatment (autumn) and planting (winter). Operations will be conducted in the pink hatched areas, as outlined in the map below (area supplied by Forestry Corporation of NSW).

The affected section of the track is along Foreshore Road between Yellowin Forest Park and Ben Smith Campsite.

All areas will be signposted when operations are active. The track will remain open to walkers but to ensure a safe walkway through the affected area, walkers are advised to follow instructions from Forestry Corporation and be aware of vehicles and machinery in the area. The Hume & Hovell Track is indicated by the maroon dotted line below.

For further information or enquiries specific to this work please contact Forestry Corporation on 1300 655 687 or visit the website at www.forestrycorporation.com.au

Track Managers advise walkers to use caution when passing through this section. You must remain on the track and ensure you are prepared with sufficient supplies and water in the event that delays are experienced. Be mindful when passing through this section as there may be increased traffic on nearby forestry roads as the operations are undertaken.

Please note: the Hume & Hovell Track passes through numerous land tenures which means access and management may be impacted by the governing body. This includes chemical usage, harvesting operations, road works and maintenance.
