Affected areas include Hardy’s Road, JDX Road and the Camping area, there will be inaccessible to the public at all times during the works and signage will be in place for the duration of the works.

15th June 2024:

A large portion of Back Creek Road, in Bago State Forest, will be temporarily closed from Monday 17 June for approximately 3 months due to hazardous tree removal works in the area. The work is being undertaken as a result of the 2019/2020 Black Summer Bushfires and now pose a safety risk. Due to the work, the road will be inaccessible to the public for safety reasons at all times during the closure period. There will be road closure signs in place.

Visitors & walkers looking to access Paddy’s River Dam or Paling Yards Campgrounds can still do so via Bago Forest Way.
Signage for visitors will be in place from the Kopsen’s Road/Batlow Road intersection to provide directions.

Walkers who are following the Hume & Hovell Track through this section will not be impacted by the road closures.

This work program will open up the road and crease a much safer path for forest access and for firefighting activities in Bago State Forest.
For more information you can contact Forestry Corporation’s Southern Region Office on 1300 880 548.

Please note: the Hume & Hovell Track passes through numerous land tenures which means access and management may be impacted by the governing body. This includes chemical usage, harvesting operations, road works and other maintenance.
