Henry Angel Trackhead flooding update

The ongoing heavy rainfall in Tumbarumba and recent flooding event in the region has caused some undesirable conditions and damage at the Henry Angel Trackhead.

The flooding has caused major infrastructure damage to Col Daniel Bridge - 5.5km from Henry Angel Trackhead towards Mannus Lake. This will mean that walkers will need to turn around at this point and not attempt to venture further as there are additional bridges requiring repair from the floods. Assessments are currently being undertaken in this area, with clean-up work already scheduled along the track and we will have further updates in the coming days.

In addition, Track managers have been forced to close off the lower sections of the Henry Angel campground which has trapped water remaining that is causing swampy and muddy surfaces. This means no camping or driving on those areas.

Unfortunately there have been attempts to drive over the soft ground which has further damaged the grounds. We want out visitors to have a positive experience on this quality campground, being one of the most popular places to stay along the track and so the decision has been made to cordon off the sections of the ground which will be disadvantageous to camp on.

Camping is available on the uphill side of the road and the eastern side of the creek and Track managers are hopeful that the ground will dry out with the warmer weather, however this will restrict numbers able to camp at Henry Angel Trackhead until further notice.
